Project Overview
For this project, I created ALIGNED, a concept magazine designed for active adults (ages 22–42) who prioritize Pilates, low-impact movement, and long-term physical longevity over high-intensity burnout culture.
Along with the cover design, I authored a Creative Director's Report analyzing the publication’s visual strategy, demographic alignment, representation, and advertising partnerships.
Key Highlights from My Creative Director’s Report
Visual Strategy & Messaging: The cover uses a minimalist neutral palette and balanced typography to implicitly communicate calm and intentionality. Explicitly, headlines like "REFORM YOUR CORE: The Physiology of Precision Movement & Lasting Strength" directly target Pilates enthusiasts using clear industry terminology.
Representation & Inclusivity: Featuring a strong athlete of color in precise form challenges traditional fitness stereotypes, showing that low-impact wellness is accessible and inclusive for all backgrounds. Extreme bodybuilding and gym culture visuals were intentionally omitted.
Strategic Brand Partnerships: I selected three advertisers, Alo Yoga / Bala (athleisure and aesthetic studio gear), Therabody (recovery technology), and Ritual (clean multivitamins) because their products directly align with our readers' health-conscious lifestyle and purchasing power.
Ethics & Formatting: All sponsored features are clearly marked with a "Paid Partner Feature" label and boxed separately to protect editorial integrity.
Distribution & Impact: ALIGNED is designed as a digital-first publication with interactive video movement guides, complemented by a tactile coffee-table print edition for boutique studios. Its serene aesthetic easily passes the "shelf test" by cutting through the noisy visual clutter of typical fitness media.
